    Whats the 690 Enduro Like

Has anyone got one or had a go on one ? I am coming back to the dirt and selling my transalp and getting a real dual sport. Has anyone got experience of these ?

I want it to to do greenlaning and transport to get there ie capable of 30 mile trip up to the lanes etc .

My brother had a go on the 690 Enduro R a few weeks ago...

It scared the sh** out of him! Very aggressive throttle response, very powerful.

he said it cornered so fast, you didn't even realise you were taking corners...

In short, utterly mental bike, probably great for greenlaning and such, but he said he couldn't live with it for his day-to-day use (and he can only afford one bike).

    Gone but not forgotten:
'04 Tiger (MRA-Vario screen, Crash bars, K&N Airfilter, dual headlamp upgrade. Colour: orange, 'cause I'm Dutch, innit!)

I was interested in just that same question. I took a 690smc (same bike different wheels/brakes) out for a test ride and was blown away by it. The motor is outstanding and having ridden it back to back with my XT660R I can honestly say I've not tried a bike before that manages to stimulate in quite the same way (my experience envelope stretches from MX to Africa Twins to racing at MRO level around UK racetracks). I can only speculate that the enduroR requires real concentration, steel nerves and a fair amount of skill to enjoy as the power delivery is substantial and merciless.

I think it may make a good adventure bike one day but the guys on ADV are currently ironing out all the niggles, some of which put me off using one for a big trip that might take me too far from a KTM dealer.

I test rode the 690 supermoto at fowlers open day last year i think. I was expecting lunacy knowing what some of the exc's are like but was disappointed it has a 600 motor thats been tamed down quite a lot so it would last and meet service schedules. I was an interesting bike to ride but the motor was buzzy and revvy so you had to keep it in the mid-high revs but when it got there it was fine. Also rode the Duke and 990 Adventure, i like that alot but couldn't justify the difference in price £6000 to trade the varadero it isn't that much better than the vara

Never ridden the Enduro - but the 690 engine in the current Duke is a peach.

I think it may be too powerful for offroading , but I suppose it depends on the state of tune and gearing ??
    2011 Triumph Tiger 800 - "Black Pussy" - MMMM Nice !!!
    2000 Suzuki DRZ400S - "Ol' Yella" - very bright
    2011 Peugeot V-Clic 50cc - "Scoot" - It's my wife's, an enjoyable ride.

    I have a house , but I can't guarantee it's safe !!

Re: Whats the 690 Enduro Like

Took a 690 Enduro for a test ride and fell in love with it from the minute I got on. The engine has HUUUUGE pull and the gearing is incredibly forgiving. I've always liked thumpers but this one is an absolute beast and has less vibration than any of my other bikes. To cut a long story short I went to collect it this morning and now can't get enough of it! Been walking around all day with a huge grin on my face.

Moral of the story: don't test ride one unless you want to buy it!

Nearly forgot, if you get one make sure you put a screen on it, it's pretty exhausting to ride without one as you have to hang on tight!
