Re: Help 950 has no power

I believe that the 950 has exactly the same Mitsubishi fuel pump as the Africa Twin and your problem does sound a little like fuel starvation.

Have you had the tank off and maybe pinched a fuel pipe?

Re: Help 950 has no power

I read a thread on ADVrider where a rider's 950 didn't run well...

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=516800
In his case, the jets were blocked...

Good luck with finding and fixing the problem!

Re: Help 950 has no power

Hi Ashley,
I have had similar problems with my 950, a couple of times it has stopped running for no reason out on the road, both times it started to run again after a couple of restarts while still sitting on the bike. Then again the other day I started the bike after it had been sitting in the garage for a couple of weeks, the bike started ok but would not rev. I tried and tried until the battery went flat. I charged the battery for a couple of hours and decided to have another go, still the same. Eventually I decided perhaps its a fuel blockage so I put the bike on the centre stand and rocked it forward and back as well as side to side pretty violently. I put the key in and started her up, she revved freely straight away.

Don’t ask why I thought shaking the bike would help, I just though what if its crap in the bottom of the tank or something and guessed a good shake would stir it up. The bike will be going for a service soon so I am going to ask that they flush the fuel system.

KTM ownership takes a true petrolhead attitude, what Clarkson says about Alfa’s is true for KTM’s in the bike world. When they run they are fantastic but its only a matter of time before they cause you heart ache.

Re: Help 950 has no power

The story so far, it turns out its not running weak as I first suspected, the reason the exhausts are so white is the at the rear spark plug is not firing which means the un-burnt fuel is going into the end cans then burning off which is the cause of the look of the exhausts, I changed the plug it run for a while then the plug was all fouled up, cleaned it and it did the same thing, long story into a short one, engine out rear cylinder off and found a small piece of metal in there but I can not find any damage to anything and nothing obvious as to were the metal has come from , apart from this the piston, barrel and head look in very good condition the bikes done 35,000 miles and has a full service history

Thanks for all the ideas I'll let you all know if i find the cause
