if I dont charge my 950 or use it for a good long run every couple of week the battery will go flat, garanteed.

This is interesting, sorry to hear of your problem, my 990 is a year old, sometimes abandonned for up to 7 weeks, but no prob's starting yet....touch wood. Hope it is the battery. Will be starting mine & the @ this morning, after I change the @'s rectifier. (Optimate at the ready!)![]()

One of the other guys had a similar problem - think most of the solutions are covered in this thread.

I took out the battery and charged it on the Optimate last night... Stuck it back in this morning, and she's running fine again.
I'm getting a multi-meter (don't own one at the moment) so I can check the charging currents when idling and revving... If that shows problems, I'll take the connectors apart and replace them with something more sturdy.
I may also fit some quick change clips to the battery box, as wiring power into the garage has proved a problem (the light switch only contains switching wire, and nothing else).
I'll get to the bottom of thisI'm planning to spend winter weekends getting acquainted with the finer mechanical points of my bike, so this is all part of the journey

If you have an accessory plug fitted in the dash you can plug the optimate straight in there..
