Waypoints for Morocco....

way points are regularly posted on Horizons for all of north Africa, there is also a website that has a copy of both the Russian maps and the land sat images (you can get these from the NASA website too)... however i don't know how upto date the map images will be compared to the ground as there has been massive amounts on new tarmac laid in the recent months.....

you can also subscribe to the T4maps group which is free, they mainly concentrate on south Africa but you can find both Moroccan and Tunisian waypoints on the database.

Road sealing will continue to erode the pistes (sic) especially as the World Bank is supplying the funding for 15,500 km of roads by 2015.

I've had a look at t4AMaps but IMHO the simplest mapping solution is Marokko Topo maps at http://www.island-olaf.de/travel/marokko/gps.html

I have travelled extensively with these maps and found the roads and tracks are accurate. The screenshot below shows my saved waypoints for the Dades to Todra link piste, but underneath you can see the track is already clearly marked on the marokko topo map.

Seems this a very popular idea as I too am looking to visit in May of next year and am in the throws of trying to plan route. The more information you guys post the better.
Its the maps I am struggling to find, I have my Michelin but the more detailed plans of off road routes are what I'm after.

Also, I am currently on my own so if there are other interested parties I'd be pleased to talk

it looks like quite a few people are looking at Morocco as destination in the next year so i guess its probably worth me mentioning what we are up to.

Some i know have started to put 2 and 2 together but those that havent....

Kymmy and myself have set up a new company (raidxtreme) which is in part going to supply vehicles and crew for various rally raids around the world. To make sure the equipment is paying its way we will running a few 'trips' out to Morocco during the rally season gaps (and as spectator liasion during Dakar)

if anyone is interested in spending time out there and wishes to be part of a bigger group which will have full service back up ( using one of our tatra 8x8 service trucks), a safety crew ( one of 2 FULLY FIA equipped Range Rovers) or by hiring one of our bikes ( ask for more details!) then let us know. Groups will be kept to a size that will cover the operating costs only!!!....
