Looks good but I think on these bikes we'd turn up as the disco lights go out, looking like ****e after an 18hour ride so no chance with the crumpet and no beers!

I've seen the opposite!

Ever heard of the hare and the tourtoise?
It is so true over a long ride, yup the faster bikes pass you at the start. Then you pass them at the gas station. Then they pass you and you pass them at the gas station. This continues for about 800 miles. Then you pass them at the side of the road massaging their butt cheeks and you arrive on the line at the same time.

Happened to me F650 v's an MV Augusta F4, over 1000miles there was 2 mins in it. he was totally shot, I went on and did another 300 miles

I have seen similar over a 4 day event. Out of 80 bikes (up to 1400cc and all styles) and 5000 kms I was 2nd to the line on my F650. The first was an err ... ummm ... AR50 (who broke the record for top of the north island to bottom of the south)
