Philippines anyone?

Sorry to bump an old thread, I came back from PI a few months ago – awesome country!

There seemed to be loads of places renting Honda XR200’s and they all seemed to be in very good condition.

I went to place recommended on the site – Nice Bike Rentals in Angeles (Angeles itself is an experience!) – as I had planned to rent a bike and ride up to the Rice Terraces at Banaue – but decided not to in the end. Something that I severely regretted as the road to Banaue seemed like a motorbike riders dream!

I did hire a XR200 and took a trip around the island of Bohol – everything from coastal roads, rice terraces and rain forests all in a days ride.

Doglegdon (or anyone else) if I ever get back to PI, is there any routes or journeys that you recommend?

I did exactly the same thing in March this year. It was probably the same XR 200!!. I picked mine up at Alona Beach on Panglao and toured all over Bohol, magic place!!

I can't wait to get back there one day!

So that is why the bikes throttle was stuck wide open

Alona Beach - that was it. I couldn't remember the place where I was staying.

I guess that a few people must do the same thing, as just as I was leaving the Chocolate Hills a Western couple pulled up (also on a XR 200/250).

Did you do any other bike trips around the Philippines?

It was probably us pulling up at the chocolate hills! I remember we got absolutely drenched in a rainstorm coming over the hills after Loboc.
I did get another ride out and took some dirt roads cross country to end up at the tarsier sanctuary well worth the effort.

I know that "Charley McGregor" aren't alot of off-roaders favourite people, but it looks like in either tonights of next weeks episode of Charley Boremans latest travel series he is in PI.

Looks like he takes a trail bike to the Chocolate Hills as well.
