    picos info

    Hi,
Have booked the ferry (Oct) and planning a quick tour of the picos returning up through France and would welcome any suggestions for descent roads/tracks around picos mountians or advice of what to look for on the map when identifying legal (tracks) routes around Picos.
    regards Mike

I'm also interested in gravel routes in the Picos. I was there last summer and the few tracks I saw had signs warning off unauthorised use. I think this is something that someone with a bit of local knowledge could really help us with.

Having said all that the tarmac roads around the Picos are fantastic. Great scenery and really twisty. So a week spent exploring the tarmac is still an excellent week.

For info there's a guest house at Posada de Valdeon run by an English guy that is kept to a high standard, great value and well located. His partner also runs the restaurant next door, which is a bonus.
It's not the age, it's the mileage...

    G'day mike,

Sorry I can really be of any help with the off road bit. The Potes side of the hills is all road, and even the 2 house villages seem to be paved. I did fine one over land track that left from feunte de (but it is a guided tour thing only.. with hefty lock on gate). From the Allanas side of things I did not even see any that were passable? Any way this is what i found before i went but did not get any further then that.. http://www.atic.org/guide/spain/trpicoeurop.php#Tour
good luck with it.. and if you need some one to go with you, my arm could be twisted!!
