    Strata Florida

    Does anybody have (or know where I can get hold of) a GPX file of the Strata Florida route in Wales.

    One of the disadvantages of having a great job as a sports photographer is the fact that most of the time it's a rubbish job, because I'm working when everybody else is off, enjoying themselves, riding the Florida Strata.

    So if anybody could point me in the right direction, I'd be grateful

    Cheers

    Rich

    Re: Strata Florida

    One end is located just outside the Village of Strata Florida, the green lane bit starting at SN755 646 and the other end at SN804 569.

    Does that help?

    SN75546465 - sn8049756857 however it's now only a legal from sn8103260162 to the end and that is normally TROed in winter! check with the local GLASS or TRF

    Re: Strata Florida

    above cords are all in OSGB (how ordnance survey maps are made in the uk)..

    SN75546465 = start point:

    sheet covering area SN (obviously the whole UK cant fit on one sheet so its got a grid covering the country, each square is assigned a code eg TL, GN etc etc)

    these are 8 figure grid refs so 7554 refers to the numbers along the base of the map and 6465 along the side (these are called northing and eastings).. another the numbers always appear in that order and can be easily remember by 'you must go in the door before you can go up the stairs'....

    you will also Find grid refs in 6 figures, the more numbers the more accurate they are though.

    Lastly TRO's are Traffic Rights of Way Orders, these are legal documents that say when you cannot use a right of way (thats all rights of way i think?..footpaths, bridleways, byways open to all traffic and roads used as a path..) to check the legal status of a track ( eg if you can use it with a specific vehicle... remember its against the law to drive on a footpath or bridleway!!!) you must use whats called the definitive map. this is the map of maps held by the council that has the latest information on, normally you need to go in person but some councils do allow you to phone and check... you can also check the status with many user groups like the TRF or AWDC or BHS or GLASS

    there are few websites that explain this all better sure someone will post up a few links if not i will find one or two for you if its any help.

    Those with a GPS/SatNav might find this of use to convert co-ords.
