Route around Southampton ?

Hi guys,

I work in Swindon and live in Southampton, just wonder if any of u guys can advice me on some good routes, may be green lanes around the areas mentioned ?

Forget to mention, I have a TA 650 + a TDM 900.

Plenty of byways between Swindon and Southampton. Go and get OS landranger maps no's 173 - Swindon and Devizes, 184 - Salisbury and the Plain.

Look in the key for PUBLIC RIGHTS OF WAY, what you're looking for are the 'Byway open to all traffic'.

You can view these in most libraries if you don't want to buy them.

Be careful on Salisbury plain, make sure that the red flags are not flying and that you don't stray off the correct routes.

I also live in Southampton, and travel to Hungerford. But used to live in Devizes, so the following are a bit of a laugh:
Romsey to Stockbridge to Sutton Scotney - then A34 to A4/M4 (all road but a fine route)
Southampton to Salisbury to Devizes to Swindon(a good route, and at Shrewton you can go off-road onto the plain at the Bustard Pub)

I'm in Southampton as well and would be up for some easy green lanes as well but as long as there easy one's since never been off road on my TA. See you at the J2 thing on 21st.

Hmm sounds good as long as its not a range day and we get used as moving tatgets

As for around Southampton there must be some green lanes somwhere since there is a Southampton branch or TRF?

No there arent ..........the closest is just above portsmouth (get a map & have a look) so if you are going to ride that far you may as well just go the other way & head for the salisbury area as you will then start to find some.

I meant the new Honda MOTORCYCLE dealer. They are next door to the Honda CAR dealer in West Quay Road.
