Can anyone help me out with some quality riding roads in South Wales.... When I get my bike back will definatly be going for two / three days of riding and camping.

So what I'm after are long sweeping A roads, twisty backroads and of any campsites that people know of that are open at this time of the year..

The other part of the plan is to get my kit sorted as hopefully off round the Alps next summer and want to make sure I've got what I need...

Fail to prepare and all that !

Sorry, no clue with campsites, but I'm sure this can be sorted with a bit of further research. A route?………….
M4 to J21 and follow the M48 across the old Severn Bridge.
A466 north to Monmouth and then follow towards Hereford.
Turn off left onto the B4521 towards Abergavenny (Scary Skenfrith)……….oh muther!
At Abergavenny A40 to Brecon.
At Brecon B4520 to lower chapel, Upper chapel then the B4519 to Garth……Mmmmmmm
At Garth left on the A483 to Beulah.
At Beulah either keep on the A483 to Llandovery
Or follow signs for Abergwesyn and Tregaron.(this is a not a sweeping A road but a real corker)

If you went to Llandovery follow the A40.

If you went Via Tregarron follow the A485 to lampeter then the A482 to Llanwrda joining the A40.

Go west towards Llandeilo then take the A4069 towards Llangatog.
At Llangatog turn right at the pub on the corner and keep on the A4069 following signs for Brynaman………….. oh muther!
At Brynaman turn left on to the A4068 to Ystradgynlias. (call in on Touratech UK and tell them their gear is way too expensive)
At Ystradgynlais turn left onto the A4067 to Crai ………..oh….oh…..muther!
And on to the A40 at Sennybridge.
You could do worse than staying on the A40 back east.

That's a fantastic route above, would definately recommend it.

I'll give J a nudge for others as well, campsites there are quite a few heading up towards Brecon, so it's worth doing a google search for campsites in Brecon.

If you go to Tregaron then I would suggest heading towards Cwymystwyth on the B4343 there is a cracking campsite at gridfigures SN822 752. There's not much there but it is very pretty. you can follow that mountain road then back towards Elan Valley and across the resevoirs into Rhyader again a lovely road to ride or head the other way towards devils Bridge on the B4574 which will take you back to some of the bigger roads where you can get back onto the A44

If you are looking for a ride with long sweeping bends and fantastic scenery then this is for you...

Pick up the A470 at cardiff, continue North to Brecon, Builth Wells, and Rhayader.
When you get to the roundabout at Llangurig, take the A44 to Aberystwyth, if you go on the weekend there is always a good crowd of bikers on the sea front.
On the return from Aberystwyth follow the A487 Soth to Aberaeron, then take a left on the A482 to Lampeter, continue on the A482 untill you get to Llanwrda the turn left on the A40 to Llandovery, there is also a great biker cafe here.
From here you can take your pick; either continue on the A40 to Brecon, Abergavenny, Monmouth, or take the A4069 scenic route to Llangadog, turn sharp left up over the mountain to Brynaman, then take the A474 to Pontardawe, take the A4067 to Sennybridge then pick up the A40 to Brecon.
