I'm off to Donington next month for the GP. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good (interesting) route from London. I normally leave late in the day so just getting there quickly is the priority (M1). This year I fancy a more leisurely approach and intend leaving earlier in the day and avoid the motorways.

Any ideas?
