    Welcome Boris!

Glad to have another Vara owner on board!

Awesome roads up that way, I keep intending on going and riding them all. I'm from Edinburgh originally but have never lived up there while I've had a proper bike. Spent a lot of time up round Mallaig and Arisaig windsurfing as a kid...fantastic place.

Bit of a tour in the offing methinks.

Yeah, so I've heard, but we only rode 5 miles of it before turning south to Salen and Ardnamurchan...then the ferry onto Mull, a quick ride to Craignure...and the ferry again to Oban. I should buy shares in CalMac

Spare a thought for poor Wee Jack , who has to commute with with Transalp using Cal-Mac every day. And you think YOU should buy shares!!. I spend about £1700 a year on ferry fares !!.

As we say on the islands "We live by the grace of god and David Macbrayne " I'm not in the least religious BTW - it's just one of those strange sayings !!!
    2011 Triumph Tiger 800 - "Black Pussy" - MMMM Nice !!!
    2000 Suzuki DRZ400S - "Ol' Yella" - very bright
    2011 Peugeot V-Clic 50cc - "Scoot" - It's my wife's, an enjoyable ride.

    I have a house , but I can't guarantee it's safe !!

Been to Skye, Mallaig, Oban, Kinlochbervie, Uig etc with the truck many times. would love to get up there with the bike, the road from Bonar bridge too Kinlochbervie, is great 30/40 odd miles of single track with passing places over the top of the mountains, bit like the moon scape in places nothing much grows, been improved a bit from laxford bridge now, how about the A9 towards the top of scotland, That Skye bridge used to be £26.50 each way with the truck a few years back wheni was going across it, no wonder the farmers used to walk animals across it to meet trucks on the other side, I remember going down into Glencoe one clear moonlit winter night and the snow was patchy in the hills, the effect was fantastic,
Stirling to Oban is a very scenis drive and good alternative to the loch lomond road

I was told the exact same thing while I was there I think - is it near the youth hostel? I couldn't find it though.

Some nice photos considering the drizzle though!

    Re: Skye

A few weeks ago I did a nadgery wee single track on Skye that went like a roller coaster. 15 mph was pushing it at some points. Didn't help that it was pissing down though.

Barking little loop of a road. On the southern tip from Kilbeg towards Tarskavaig, then Ord and back onto the main drag again.

Deffo not one for a sports bike.
