    Skye

Probably some of the best roads I have ever ridden.

definatly not car friendly, or sports bikes come to that... a land the AT was built for.

The pass we took over the mountaint o the ferry was awsome. the TKC80's even cope well with the odd bit of gravel

Hey, you guys made it to the Glenelg ferry? For those who don't know it, this the way to get to Skye, s*d the bridge! Down Glen Shiel and turn left at Shiel Bridge (the head of the loch; ferry is signed). Stop near the top of the pass and look back for the classic Five Sisters of Kintail view. Pub in Glenelg is excellent, and the brochs a few miles down the road at Eilanreach are worth a look. If it's near sunset go a little further to the point above Sandaig (Ring of Bright Water), the view of the sunset over the Cuillins is superb.

Glad the ferry's still running. It's been up for sale, and I never heard if they got a buyer. Legend has it that it's actually an old WW2 landing craft, but I have no idea if that's true. It has a platform on top that's just big enough for 4 cars, and which gets spun round (by hand!!!) so you can roll on/roll off.
flat out on utterly inappropriate tackle

Did the same in the summer 2 up and fully loaded on the TA.
Like ya say, its a great road, great views and a great way to go. I might pitch for the longer ferry next time as in good weather it would be a fantastic crossing.
No more tolls on the bridge!! so on and off as much as you like.
We stopped in a B&B just behind the white heather hotel in Kyleakin.
Watched otters and seals whilst eating a full english!!
Don't underestimate the lenght of time it takes to get from one end to the other.(lots of coaches and bimblers)
    Fantastic roads and view though!

IanS, Fewtrees and I did the Armadale-Mallaig ferry on our way south this summer - fantastic views but then the weather was great!

Yeah, so I've heard, but we only rode 5 miles of it before turning south to Salen and Ardnamurchan...then the ferry onto Mull, a quick ride to Craignure...and the ferry again to Oban. I should buy shares in CalMac!

This could be the same lay-by or just a bit further on!

Amazing. Not only have I just found this forum, this being my first post, but I was also in the very same lay-by yesterday. Check out the bush and squint marker on the right hand side of the road.
Weather was a bit poorer in October though.
