Smile Shoei or Arai which one.....HELP

Folks...Help me out here!! Arai tour x, Shoei Multitec or a Shoei Hornet,.......all I think are good in terms of what i need them for.

But the shoei Multitec is more practicle i think as i like to have the chin bar up when in towns and will be less vibey on motorways than the Arai or the other Shoei, wheras the Arai Tour X fits the image of the @ and would be like having the chin bar up when the HUGE visor is up...question is which one is better Arai or Shoei???

I am down to these three after weeks of pros and cons of all the other helmets out there.

But now need advice/opinions of people who have/had these.

I travel mainly on A roads (60 - 70mph) and quite a bit of town riding.

And of course they will be in black.

I have a Tour-X and it's absolutely great but if I were in the market for a new lid I'd take a good look at the Shoei.

Honestly? Boring answer? Whichever one fits you better. Mostly I've found people have an arai shaped head *or* a shoei shaped head, but not both.

An almost-but-not quite fitting helmet can be murder. I still remember my Dad coming home from a trip to france and throwing his current lid away as he walked through the door - the padding had compressed a bit too much, it had become slightly too big, and the vibration at speed gave him double-vision.

    On the motorway

    Not fun.

However, if you are lucky enough that either fit you, as a fan of "flip-ups" I'd probably go with the shoei, as I ride my bikes everywhere and don't drive, and find the convenience, well, convenient!

Also, "fits the image"? What is this, a sportsbike forum? It'll be matching power-ranger outfits and unused kneesliders and tiny number plates next, and before long you'll be thinking "ohh, purple and blue anodised mini indicators, what a good idea" and "well, this loud exhuast certainly covers up the fact I can neither go round corners nor overtake" ...

Forget about image. You ride a motorbike. 99 percent of the country thinks you are either a criminal, and idiot, or a criminal idiot. Get the one that fits best and does what you need it to do.

There, I haven't helped either. Whoops - sorry. Maybe someone else will be along in a min...

I'm not gonna be much help either - I've got a Tour-X and when I'm in the market for a new lid, thanks to the noise and fogging issues with the arai, I'll be looking elsewhere. Thats from experience of riding it all weathers on all roads including the 180 mile weekly commute I do.

Having said that I do luuuuurve my TX really and I'm of the ilk that think it 'fits' the image of the bike as well.

There now all we need is someone to actually be of help and you'll be sorted.....

If you wait a while I'll be able to tell you hopefully, as I am about to own the shoei flip, and fortunately my company are paying for it too, so once ridden with it for a while, I'll be able to give you feedback on riding with it

    Thanks so far folks.

Big traillie deserves the right image (without fitment compromise......obviously), really do like the styling of the arai but if you say it fogs a lot (i am soooooo sick of fogging/misting helmets) then how about the shoei hornet?,........I must admit though....the more i think about it the Shoei Multitec is more practical............but I think aesthetically it looks odd perched on top of the @..........whatever is safest I guess.

Now where did i put those unused knee sliders, that super duper loud exhaust, and that incy wincy tiny number plate........what a horrid thought....although my exhaust does have a lovely pitch/rumble

Sorry to be boring but I think you should put image right down the list.
Fit then comfort then practicality. I'd even put price or value for money before how it looks.

The hornet does look wicked though and it comes with the pinlock. It's also good value compared to the TX (here anyway, TX is circa €475 and the Shoei is well under €400). Disappointed that neither have a quick release visor.

i found the cheapest shoei is WAY better than the cheapest takashi!by far now i can do a shouler check at 70mph without my head almost being torn off,and the visor never fogs up.
