Post Tinted Visor or Sun Glasses

I have been using sunglasses for the past couple of weeks, when that big yellow thing in the sky has been working. I feel that my vision is restricted. I have had a look for a tinted visior and have seen an option at £45, but the site is also advertising pinlock tints at £18.

Has any one tried the pinlock tints, I have the clear one fitted and it is the dogs for eliminating misting. However when fitting I can remember flatening the visor a fair bit & I do not like the thought of doing that on a regular basis.

Any feeback on them would be appreciated.

Have you tried any of the two visor helmets?

Bought a Caberg Trip recently, has an internal tinted visor. Can add / remove tinted on the move. Found that to be useful.

I used to wear the Simpson Bandit and boy did I look good, until I didn't make it home before bedtime riding at night with a tinted (black as the ace of spades) visor was impossible and visor up was painful after a few hours, I can only say never again will I have a tinted to black visor, the internal slide down sun visor is the best thing since bread if you dont want to change lids then buy good sunglasses that you can wear on the odd day when God has paid the electric bill and turned the lights on. don't do anything to impair your vision at night

You can buy bum-bags especially designed to carry a spare visor. Nowadays they are easy enough to swap by the side of the road. I agree about the tinted pinlock insert. You have to be quite forceful to remove/replace them and you want a clean environment; not suitable for side of the road changes.

The built-in slide up slide down visors seem to be a great solution. However, I have several other requirements for a helmet and an internal tinted visor is a lower priority for me.

Maybe you just need less restrictive sun glasses?

I've been using protective glasses for a while now, and I don't think I'll ever wear goggles again.

I carry a clear pair all the time, in jacket pocket. That way if I have my dark visor on, I have something to fall back to if it gets dark, or Plod doesn't like my visor.

I also find the dark ones are fine in bright sunlight, and because they wrap around, there's no restriction to my vision. Of course the other great thing is that you can get a pair of dark, and a pair of clear for less than the cost of a visor

I wear sunglasses everyday and cannot ride without them, I start to cry without them and get dirt, sand or bugs in my eyes without them, I only close my helmet above 100km/h...

As for night riding i bought white mirrored cycling glasses, they are awesome and wear them even at day. Cycling sunglasses are very ergonomic and protective!

Last week I bought some Yellow Bollé cycling/safety ones that are awesome for fog/cloudy/night use, but too bright for sunny days because they aren't mirrored, very cheap here, various models, lenses and colours: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Safety-One

Re: Tinted Visor or Sun Glasses

Tinted pin locks are great and work well but storing and handling without scratching is the real issue. If you have a quick release visor, a tinted visor with bumbag for clear is the way forward.

Not sure why people are trying to flatten their visors to insert the pinlocks?!?!?! the pinlock is very flexible and are the bits designed to be bent into place. just clip in both ends and push in the bump until it inverts and flicks into place?!?

I have just got a nolan flip face jobby with the sun visor. They are really quite handy although I'm not overly impressed with the build of the helmet. I still use my arai with either tinted pinlock or tinted visor mostly.

I often use tinted (or light yellow for night time) safety glasses under my visor if the weather looks uncertain. Safety glasses are indeed well formed for under helmet use. They normally seem to be very flat and wrap round well with soft legs that don't give you headache pressing against your helmet. I think if you stretch to £10 you can even get photoreactive

Not sure if I would want the benefit of a protective visor only to have my eye scalloped out with a normal sunglass lense in a crash?

I have seen this from just a pushbike crash. The lens cut its way in at the eyebrow and well.. sure most can picture the rest. euugh. Fortunately for the rider they crashed outside a hospital!

    My 2peneth worth anyway
