    Moto-X Helmets Vs Full face?

At present i have a HJC FG-14 full face lid which is great most of the time but very hot in the current weather. I was wandering would a Moto-X helmet be any cooler to wear (and no i don't mean in the fashion sense).

I was thinking about the hybrid helmets Moto-X with visor but think it would be easier just to get a normal Moto-X lid and goggles since i want the cool air on my face but still the protection.

I've got a Shoei MX lid.
It's a little cooler as the vents are bigger and of course you get more wind in your chops.

But it's very noisy and rain stings at speed, the chin guard doesn't stop much. Just hope I don't take a bumble bee out with my nose!

I hardly ever use it and tend to wear the road lid with visor open on most of my commute.

Get a tour-x or the like and you can always take the viser out, like my grey 1

I`ve toured for years in a Bell Moto 6 MX lid and Scott goggles with half mask to bridge the gap between goggle frame and helmet.

Of course MX lids are noisier than road lids...they only have half the internal lining and are race helmets...so just wear earplugs (which you should do anyway).
I`m talking about proper MX lids here, not yer Ewok replicas or any of the noncy lookalikes with visors added.

I`ve never had a cooler or more comfy helmet than that Moto 6,and it`s been worn on 12 -14 hr days and on a 4,500 mile in ten day tour.

I suppose the cheapest option is to just get some safety glasses from B&Q and ride with the visor open. Since i would only probably use it in hot sunny weather.

i have just bought a new flip front lid with flip down sun shades,

takechi tn-96 or something like that, i mentioned it in another post.

i got it because it has a liner that's got loads of cut outs in it so you get a flow of air going over the top of your head,
also i've found the wind blows up the front of the helmet too, which is very refreshing in the warm weather, might be annoying in winter, but maybe if i close the top vents it might stop.

when it gets too hot i ride with the visor open and the shades down, wind in my face but my eyes are protected from the kamikazi flies and bee's.

How about LIDL open face special £20?? I Always wanted to try one and saw these. Loads of noise above 60mph and no chin protection but very light and great visibility with huge visor down.
Where ever you go...there you are...

Er no. Would never have a open face lid. Especially when 60% of impact on a lid is on the chin bar.

Re: Moto-X Helmets Vs Full face?

I Used a mx helmet, for abour 6 months over summer last year,
while comuting on my XL, noe use a caberg trip.

the mx helmet was really nice and cool, that was until you get to 70 on the motorway for any amount of time ,noticed this when i got on the back of my mates CBR600, you find your head getting pulled about when you look left and right, but on the a and b roads it was fine.

I still use it on really warm days, with my tinted scott googles for my ride to work... dont like riding with my trip flipped up,, chin feels exposed..

get some cheap googles, i use this site
