    Question Dual Sport Helmets

OK folks what do we think about dual sport helmets and do you wear one ? I have an Arai Tour Cross which is built well but to be honest I'm not sure I made the right choice.

To start with the scull cap leaves a mark across my forehead after 30 mins wear so look like I've just has a full frontal lobotany. And thats after the Arai rep checked the sizing and dropped the scull cap thickness slightly. It feels loose now

Secondly the peak catches the wind a lot in anything above 50mph so lifesaver checks tend to rip your head off.

I think I should have got a standard roadie helmet but the dual sport looks the business.

I have a flip top helmet, but will be going back to a full face one next as it is very noisey. Never fancied the peaked ones.

I have been using a Roof Boxer for a few years now and find them to be a good all round helmet as you can have it totaly open face, open face with visor or as a fullface, the only thing is, they do have a bit of wind noise, Be sure if you get one, it's not too tight, they don't "give" with wear, if it's tight new, it always will be OK.

I've got a Tour X and I've taken the peak off, less turbulence and noise. Cheaper than buying a new helmet.

Your neck muscles will get stronger and stop you getting your head ripped off - eventually.

I've had mine for yonks now (Tour X) and have firmly gotten used to all of it foibles - its that time of year again where I insert ear plugs into the vent holes to keep the water out and that combined with a gen parts breath guard seem to do the trick for the misting issues. Mine is a good fit - I must have an 'Arai shaped head' or summat. I wouldnt be without it come the days of the 'winter sun' - theres no substitue for a visor to keep it out of your eys on the morning commute..........

Me too! I have my Tour Cross2 for a couple of years now and I remain a litttle dissapointed, I disagree with you about the build, I think it's very poor compared to other Arais and I think the overall design is poor. I do however, love the peak and will miss it when I change because I doubt that I'll be getting another. I was hoping it would be a road helmet with a peak but it's a motocross helmet with some clumsy additions. I'm not too taken with any of the competition either so unless someone comes up with a comfortable, leakproof lid with a peak AND a quick release visor I'll be going back to a road helmet.

jst bought a new Arai Chaser in Phil Read colours, It fits great and a lot less wind noise than my old Quantum.

I looked at the Tour X but decided the peak would be a pain.
