    Shoei Multitech

Not sure if there is any comment on this helmet here but if there is I am sure someone will kindly point me in the right direction.

Anyway, after five years with my trusty Arai full face lid I thought it about time to retire her. After much prevarication I have opted for a Shoei Multitech. I suppose the only reason for opting for this lid was that it fitted me very well and I like the flip front, very useful when riding through border crossings, ferry boarding and simply talking to people without taking your lid off.

Anyway, Although the helmet was fine in the shop you don’t really find out what it is like to ride with until you get on your bike. I noticed immediately that it was a bit noisier than my old lid, and that the pin lock inset was a little lower in my view so I have to ride with my head up slightly.

I have tried to tackle the noise problem by adding some small foam rubber strips to the open area close to the chin hinge part. I have also altered the visor to give a tighter fit. Both have helped and the helmet is now ok.

Has anyone any experience of this helmet and what do you think of it?

I have a Nolan Flip front and have noticed it too is noisy, I have decided to go back to full face helmets for long runs as the comfort is better, Also invested in a decent set of earplugs from ultimate ears.

Quietest depends on bike, screen, position, height and speed but Shoei Multitech I can recommend with whisper kit and Schuberth are supposed to be quite and comfy

    Re: Shoei Multitech

Whisper kit fitted and after adding some sponge rubber strip to the gap in the flip front sides (close to the hinge) all seems ok now.

Only problem with the chin bit of the whisper kit is it makes the visor steam up a bit (pin lock also fitted) if it is very wet and I have a long trip to do. The way I am managing it is to slightly open the visor for a few minutes every twenty minutes or so to clear it. The bike is fitted with a tall screen so this also helps keep the wind off.

I do like the flip front, it reminds me of my riding with open face helmets back in the 70's when you had a far better view of the road in front (but less protection).

    Re: Shoei Multitech

I've got one and sometimes the visor "humms" if I look to the left, but other than that I can't fault it, also the last time I bought a new visor for it the shop had a taller pinlock insert that extends much higher, I assume that one of these will solve the problem
    cheers

    Re: Shoei Multitech

I put my shoei on and yes the pinlock does sit in eye line I just adjust once its on and its all fine. Its always goin to be noisier, flip fronts are. But its a hell of a lot quieter than my motocross helmet!!
