    Newbie saying hello...

    Hi everyone!

Thought I'd better do the polite thing and introduce myself.

I have a BMW R1200GS, Mrs Jonothan has a Guzzi Breva 750ie Touring and Master Jonothan, now 20 and two years post test is about to get a new Transalp 700.

He didn't want a BMW and as we're all off to Thailand in August doing an escorted tour on BMWs with Discovery Moto Tours , we thought that Master J needed some experience. He didn't want a BMW and there's a long wait for the new F650GS anyway. But we have tried (and really loved) the new Transalp and there's one in yellow in the Honda showroom.

So it looks like we'll be adding a Honda XL700V to the family fleet.

Young Miss J, at 18, is also coming with us. She rides a CBR125R and will be taking her test soon, so she'll be my pillion for the holiday.

I'm a GP in North East Lincolnshire.

    Anyway, hello to you all!

    Jonothan

    Welcome to the site.
At least one of you has taste.
The Transalp 700v is a lovely bike.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

A Doctor could come in handy at the next National meet.

Welcome to the site. I'm looking forward to taking my son's pillion when they're big enough. Love to show them the Alps one day.

Be sure to report back with pics of your trip.

Welcome, sounds like a fantastic plan for a trip, hope all goes to plan.
I did check out the Guzzi Breva 750ie prior to buyin the tiger, but was hard pushed to find a nice example within my price range.

Jonathon how loveky to see you over here. Hope your all keeping well, I thought about the new transalp but still can't make up my mind.

I do like the looks in a strange "I've fallen out of the ugly tree but still have a bit of charm" kind of way.

You'll find it a very friendly place here there is not a question that goes unanswered or thread that gets off topic

    You'll meet the regulars shortly.

If it's a transalp your lads looking at then take a peek in the Transalp
section there are quite a few guys here that have the new 700 and there is lots of information in there about the good and not so good bits of the bike.

There are quite a few reviews in there, these are some that I could find

    Transalp review

    Review.

Once you've found your way around the site make sure you wander into the Chatter section for any old rubbish and chat, sometimes bike related more often just a vague link

I know you do lots with the GSERS but we have lots of meetup and rideouts where you can see if there are any rides planned in your area or post to organise one of your own

If there is anything you want to ask or if you have any problems then post in the problems with the forum section there are lots of helpful moderators and admins around that will help

Anything else give us a shout.

Lovely to see you here doc.

Thanks for the welcome, folks. Especially lovely to see you again, Sharribee, I've really missed you over on the GS forum and I have asked after you!

Well, we've been and ordered the bike, insurance sorted and paid for (not cheap, but hey, there you go!) and we collect it on Saturday.

We're getting a taller screen and a centre stand for it, and it's in that gorgeous metallic yellow. Master J is very excited, as you might imagine.

Jonathon, pictures I have to have pictures. I am housebound and miserable at the moment so very demanding and I need to see pictures of lovely bikes because I am not allowed to ride mine yet.

How is Mrs J getting on with the Guzzi

Mrs J's getting on fine with her Guzzi - it's running really well and I have to say that it's a very pretty bike. She's really grown to love it and it's suiting her very nicely.

Here's a few pictures of the new Transalp. We collect it tomorrow. The pictures aren't brilliant as they've been taken with a mobile phone.

It has a centre stand and the tall screen fitted.

    Hope you're recovering well.

    J

PS Miss J (now 18 years old) takes her bike test on Tuesday. Fingers crossed.

Looks nice, I'm not sure about the new transalp but I know that quite a few members here have had problems with wind noise with the taller screens on the older transalp. I binned mine after about 2 weeks for a standard screen because I was at risk of losing my hearing.

Wish Miss J good luck, you'll have a complete biker family then won't you, can't wait for my girl to be old enough to ride
