From a Hornet to a TA

Hello their from a cb600 f7 Hornet rider

I don’t as yet have a TA or AT but I do fancy a TA so I’m looking on the site to help me make my mind up
As I have never had this style of bike I need to no about tyres for road use what are good for grip which are good for touring etc

The new Hornet is my toy as you see from my name my old VFR is my touring bike

Hello there, TA is a great bike hope its what you want. It will take you on roads that the Hornet wouldnt be happy doing, but will give you a smile. Get on one.

    Welcome to the forum.
The TA is a lot more bike than it looks and is more likely to help you keep your license than a Hornet.
There are a few threads about tyres, maybe this one will be of use.

Re: From a Hornet to a TA

I have both and both have their different good and bad points.

I love the transalp, it's a bit lighter and fantastic for commuting, it is bombproof and I have even ventured into a little mud with it. I have a set of tourances on Twinkletoes and to be honest I love those tyres, won't put anything else on there now.

The AT is a different animal, it is so much fun to ride but I haven't done to many miles on it yet, It is heavier and I think I would be a little more cautious using it to commute. Got me some big chunky TKC's on florrie, haven't done enough miles on it to judge yet though

Thanks folks I have not had much luck selling Hornet but I’m not in any rush

But when I get time I hope to find a TA to test ride as I never thought about tyres are they any good on stock supply tyres that are likely to be fitted from a dealer

as I’m used to riding the vfr & before the Hornet a blade don’t want to fly into a corner thinking this is steady away only to find tyres not up for the job

Mine came from the dealer with Bridgestones which were OK, the only tyres I really didn't like were Avons, although you will find some guys here love them.

I've found the Michelin Anakees to be great, much more confidence than the original Bridgestone Trailwings.

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

Avon’s now there’s a thing I use the storm on the VFR and have just fitted them to the Hornet as they do the mileage specially when touring abroad
on the two bike I do about 10.000 miles a year so I like them to last

you have give me somthing to think about as I would have just put Avon tyres without thinking cheeres

Some of the guys love the Avons, I just didn't think they were as hard wearing or sticky in the wet, whereas I have found the Tourances very sticky in the wet and incredibly good value for money as far as wear and tear goes.

I have gone through 1 set of Tourances for 2 and a half of the Avons.
