Cool New Member - Mid Life Crisis Time!

    Hello All

Just a quick line to say hello and welcome to my mid life crisis!

43 years old and I've got L plates

I did my CBT a couple of months ago, and a couple of weeks later bought a XR 125.

First week of ownership I did over a 100 miles going nowhere, just getting on the thing and enjoying it! Then I got busy with work, and the following week it rained..... ok so I know I should get on it in the wet, but that will come with time.

So I got it out at the weekend, enjoyed the sunny afternoon and came home to find my L plate had fallen off the back, sorted another one out today and went out for a little run and shock horror it rained whilst I was out.

Maybe it was me being overcareful, but the bike appeared to jump out of gear on two occasions, I was probably doing something wrong I know, but what could have caused it to jump into neutral. I should also point out that I was coming down some very steep roads with flowing water down the roads.

Oh and if you wonder why I'm logged in as racedriver, that's because I race old cars for another hobby!

    Andrew

    Join the club !!!!!!

I only took my test in june at the tender age of 42 Got a 650 Transalp before I passed my test, being a bit presumptious !

Havn't got a clue why your bike should jump out of gear tho as I am useless at mechanics but Im sure someone will be along soon.

Get the test done and enjoy the mid life crisis I'm loving mine

    Cheers

Hello and welcome to the forum.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

    Welcome
i took my test at the same kinda age as you 6 years ago cos i bought a RD250 to restore, never likes the look of trail bikes etc. then my son went for his CBT 3 or 4 years ago and the guy was using CCM 644,s to do the direct access replacing the GS500,s he had when i did mine, he let me loose with a CCM for a couple of minutes, sudden change of thought, sitting up looking around but no money eventualy bought a SLR for £650 now just got a Vigor

If it's slipping into neutral then you probably just didn't give the shift enough force.

Unless it's an old bike, then it could be that the gears are a little worn, nothing to worry about really.

Thanks, it was probably me just being to gentle (for once!). It's a 55 plated XR125 with just under 3k on the clock!

I'll get out on it tomorrow, rain or shine! and have another go!
