New old biker on a mission.

Hi all, just come across this forum, looks very good, im 40 years young and never owned a bike before, i bought a 05 varadero last week and put a couple of hundred miles on it despite the lousy weather, now i wonder why i didnt buy a bike earlier, the reason i bought a bike is, my nephew wants to celebrate his birthday in july next year, in Turkey, after riding there, foolishly i agreed to join the group of about 8 so far. so i booked my cbt, then theory test, after getting those out of the way, decided to get the varadero for a bit of road practice, and love it, cant wait to get on something a little faster now though.

Hello and welcome to the world of biking and the madhouse, come forum.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

Faster Stocko! how fast do you want to go? The stock Vara 1000 might ride fairly gently but stick some cans on the back (I have Leo Vince on mine) and not only does the volume go up, (even with the baffles still in) but the whole experience becomes a bit more fly-on-the teeth-stupid-grin-how-fast-is-that-overrun-pop-bang-pop-turn-in-yahoo.

If you are passing through Germany on the way to Turkey, let me know your date/route. I haven't got beds for 8, 4 maybe!

Hey stock, welcome to the world of two wheels-one-engine-in-between! I am an OBF who's been riding for over 32 years now...in my days there was only one test and then at 17 you could ride anything! Enjoy your newly aquirred freedom and if the shortcut to Turkey goes via London give us a shout!
