    Garmin Streetpilot III help

    Hi there

I have been a site member for some time but keep getting flagged up to post something meaningful. So here goes, have a couple of the above units and would welcome some tips to fit to my '96 Africa Twin without blowing anything up or draining battery unduly when garaged. I have the connector and cable and some kind of bracket but any help would be welcome. Also having bought the things second hand I can't seem to get my software installed correctly or upgarde software even though I have relevant unlock codes. Really love the site but don't normally do forums so apologise for not getting more involved on this great website.

    Welcome to the forum.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

    Welcome to the forum.

if the cables have an in line fuse wire it straight across the battery. That's what J has done with Sharri's. as for the software if it's installed on your pc click on utilities and then click on unlock. This should bring up a panel which will ask for the unlock code. if memory serves me correct after playing with sharri's unit you can only load routes into a SP III unit via a serial interface cord.
