    Post G'day

    G'day all,
    I'm here to share the hard-won knowledge gained from punting early TransAlps.
    I'm currently punting a Yamaha TDM850, on which I'll occasionally run knobby tyres. I owned and loved for many years an '87 Honda Transalp (ex ATGreg) called 'The Trannie', and I also briefly owned (and killed while road-racing) the famous 'Trevor, the shopping trolley' (also ex ATGreg originally).
    My first big bike (in 1986, when I was already nearing 30yo) was an '86 XL350RF(10k), then:
    MotoGuzzi V65 Lario (20k);
    KLR600(15k);
    Yam FJ1200U (25k),
    XTZ750 (30k);
    a bikeless period of four+ years in the 90's;
    the two TA's(200+K;
    a Suz 500GS(5k);
    Suz Wee-Strom DL650 (75k)
    and now the TDM (10k kilometers so far)

    I also had a minibike as a young teenager, but that was a lawn mower powered gearless, auto clutch small wheeled thing useless (on reflection) for learning real riding skills like powersliding and wheelies. Never-the-less, I ported it and ran it with a loud expansion chamber, YEEHA!
    I prefer longer day rides, camping or pub-stays and just get a mild sweat when on unsealed roads with road tyres.
    I'll be supporting some mates in my club (Clubman Tourers MCC Inc) at the Condo750 this Easter (a desert race (Aussie Safari style) over two days in Central NSW).
    Cycling - as in commuting and touring, is also a long-time love.

    Re: G'day

    Hello and welcome to the forum,
    nice selection of bikes you have had.
    There seem to be a few members on your continent now.
    YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE
