    Hello from Ulster

    Hi all,

Been riding a Transalp for a couple of years now and really enjoying the bike ------ but we have had a major engine blow up last week-end. Rear piston and con rod became disconnected causing near fatal damage ---- new engine required. Everywherer I read or talk to people all I hear is 'the engine is indestructable', it's not and I can prove it.
Anyway my question is, can I fit a 2003 650cc engine to my 1996 XL600VT?
Any assistance would be appreciated to help make me smile again

Hello and welcome to the forum.
The engine is near to being indestructible, but it still requires some maintenance to prevent major failure.
Shame you are so far away as I have an XL600v engine in my shed.

    Hi Stumpyfingers,

    Thanks for the welcome.
I can't understand my blow up as I looked after it like a baby, regular oil changes etc and I don't over rev but hi that's life, so get a new engine and get back on the road. Any thoughts on the 2003 unit into my 1996 chassis?

They could have altered the mounting points.
Try asking in the Transalp section, for more coverage.
