    Saying hello... new to riding

    Hello to all,

Just wanted to say that I am very new to bike riding, and am yet to ride my first bike (a learner you could say). I've been interested in bikes all my life and have always wanted to own one, but a slight disability since birth (left sided weakness) has always put me off, due to problems that I'd have... I am over 6ft tall, but with the weakness I've often thought I'd never be able to ride.

Now 27, I have decided to take the plunge and atleast try to learn to ride a bike. I found out about the "Rekluse Automatic Clutch" which gave me hope and even more determination to do what I've always wanted (as using the clutch is a problem).

Hoping to be buying a second hand XR 125 shortly to learn on (to be used for a bit of fun offroad), IF I can get a Auto clutch for one... so have joined here to get all the information, advice and help I can get as a newbie to riding a bike, and hopefully a future XR owner.

Sorry to make my first post such a long one, but I felt I should explain my situation a bit.

    Thanks

    Gary

    Hi Gary

Welcome to the forum, and biking.

Don't know anything about Rekluse auto clutches, but think there are a few on here who do. Try putting Rekluse in the search box?

Don't be afraid to ask questions, even if you think they may sound stupid. Some of the answers may be a bit off the wall, even if it's a sensible question!

    Thanks for the welcome Mick,

I've been onto a company that sells them, but on their website only one for the XR650 is listed, so I gave them a ring to today and I'm waiting for a reply.

There is a 2005 XR 125 for sale very close to me that I saw on eBay, and went to look at with my brother (as I know little about bikes).

It was in excellent condition, had done 3721 mile, on a 55 plate. He wants £1,200 for it... I left it, as of course I'm waiting to see if I can get a Rekluse auto clutch to fit it first.

If I can't get one for a XR 125 then its back to square one, looking for another bike.... and looking at the Rekluse website there may not be many that'll suit me... If I get a 65cc or 80cc bike they will be too small, and a 250cc may be too powerful to start off on, especially a offroad bike.

Hello and welcome to the forum,
If you have difficulty in finding exactly what you need try HERE They may be able to point you in the right direction.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

Thanks, Yeah, I was given their website by Sharribee earlier and I've had a browse around aswell as the Disabled biker forum.

If I can't get a Rekluse auto clutch, then they will be my next option, to work around not having to use the clutch when changing gear. Anything that will make any bike "semi automatic" would do the trick.
