    Newblet Reporting In

    Hey all

pleasure to be on here finally.
    Name's Hamdog, fanatical rider

first saw this fine forum sometime ago, soon after i discovered my dream bike, and NEEDED to know more about it.
still....financial problems haulted me from gettig it. So i've been stuck on my 125 for more than a year now....not that i'm complaining, it's bombproof.
Indianna Jones should have hidden inside that instead of the fridge when that nuke went off.

It's a small...not very powerful machine, designed off of a honda cba 125.
called a bt125 crusader classic. bought off ebay brand new in 2006, suffice to say...it's a seen better days.
but my word....it's a fine bike. sure, you can only really break the speedlimit downhill with the wind behind you. and i've gotten used to beinging overtaken by artic-lorries. but i dont care. the first bike is like the first love.

although, i've been motorhead mechanic the last few days and had it in pieces and put it back togeterh (changed the oil aswell....i felt well proud)
i manged to reach....EIGHTY-EIGHT MILES PER HOUR. felt as though bits were flying off as i sped along. Fastest i've ever manged on that bike
    awesome

but what's capticated my heart right now. is the beautifal Africa twin....and someday soon, one will belong to me

Welcome to the land of dreams.
There are a couple of examples on fleabay at the moment.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

    Re: Newblet Reporting In

    cheers for the warm welcoming

    little more about myself.

    i'm 20 years old
started riding when i was 18. It all started when me and my dad went to Knockhill to see the british super bikes.
it amazed me, especially the gravity defying leaning. i couldn't fathom how it was done lol.
it was a great day out. soon afterwards...my dad bought the Crusader off ebay....brand new (chinese import) zero miles. semi-assembled. i got my hands on it first since he was out. i loved it (first real experiance with a motorbike. first time i ever sat on one was when i got it into the back garden and saddled up
i knew i was going to be a biker

my dad took his cbt and got the bike together and working. And he was off. Soon after that, i got my own gear. but still didn't get close to the bike.
Then he passed his test and got himself a bigger honda. and i inherited the crusader. Took my CBT in august 2007. L plates and all that. Got used to it, and i cant think of a better thrill than riding it. Now...i had an impression after i got more confident that i was invincible in it. i was rounding corners so far leant over that my pegs were scraping off the tarmac.
Then it came....my first crash, wuite a sobering experiance.
Runnign late for college. speeding along the ole back roads that i'd taken now countless dozens of times, attempted to turn into a junction going 40 mph.....erm......no, big mistake. i went down before i could react. sliding across to the far side of the farm road. car coming straight at my. glass and sparks flying. The bumper stopping coming about 10 inches from my visor....i thought i was going to die, but i was safe lol. two priests then get out the car (...collers and all) and i cant help but feel the irony.
the exhaust was burning my leg and there were shards of my headlamp all around me
    "are you alright?" they asked.
    I blinked.
"i'm alright thanks" Smiling "dont suppose you could get this off my leg thanks?"

i dusted myself off....10 fingers, 10 toes, nothign broken. but my knee was sore and my calf felt somewhat singed.
they gave me a lift home and came back with mother in toe....pick up the bike and all. the only real damage were the lights. and some awesome scratches on the screen (still there today)
the handlebars were twisted i figured out when i rode it home

my first crash, i wasn't afraid to get back on the bike, but it did sober me up to how vulnerable i was. since then i still haven't been able to get the same lean i had when i first started.

My second Crash.....now that was a piece of art.
i work as a bartender in perth, and stay in kinross. 20 miles by the back roads. i was finishing up on a busy thursday night, it was gone 1 in the morning when i set course for home. this was about mid-December. So pretty fudging cold. icey roads. the ole back roads that i've riden more than a hundred times. a little bend, began a gentle lean....but kept on going down. This time, the world slowed down (really)
60 mph. i went down like a sack of bricks. I was bouncing off the road, i burst my nose in the insde of my helmet (face plant)
Now, all i really remember for those 5 seconds has i was BOUNCING down the road was
    "this is awesome!!!"
i could see the sparks fly from the bike that was bouncing at equal apce with me on the other side of the road.
i came to a rest, got up and picked up my bike without much thought.
spent 5 minutes trying to figure out exactly where i was going (disorientated)
from looking at the scrapes leading to my currant position...i figured it out.
at first i was fine. but as the adrenaline wore off... realised my wrists were damaged. by the time i got home, i was screaming in my helmet when i changed gear.

truely a terryfying but awesomely fun experiance that i do not want to repeat. i've becom a sensible rider, not taking stupid risks but not being overly cautious.
especially since passing my test in Jan last year. (first time )

well....for about 2 years of riding....think i've got some accomplishments
