Post New member from the Netherlands

    Hi there...

After riding Italian, I finally bought my `93 AT. Imported it from Germany with only 20.000 km's and a little "falling" damage wich can be easily fixed.
It's green/purple now but he will become nicely black...
The AT itself looks like new..
What I would like to know is how to get the 2 headlights burning at te same time ( excuse me for my poor English)
In holland I can't find much of an AT forum/club or something like that..
I'm a girl who doesn't know to much about electrics, so I hope somebody can tell me..

Hello Gea and welcome to the forum.

According to the electrical diagrams that I have (from my Haynes Manual) the German Africa Twins have a different headlight set-up to machines for other countries.

If you have a look, I think that you will find that one headlight lamp has only two connections and the other has three connections.

One of the wires will be Green - this is the Earth or Ground wire.

The second wire will be Blue or Blue and Yellow - this is the High Beam circuit.

The third wire will be either plain White or White and Brown - this is the Low Beam circuit.

Without actually seeing the bike (I have a Transalp - only one headlight), you will need another bulb holder with three connections. What you need to do is to link from the existing three wire bulb holder to the new one. This will give you two headlights on both Dipped and Main Beam.

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

    Hi Gea,

the € sector riders club is getting bigger where are you,

As for the lights have a close look at the reflectors I'm pretty sure they are different patterns so you may have to retrofit a dipped beam reflector and bulb

    Welcome to the forum, Gea.
I think your best bet would be to wait for Rubber Chicken as he is from your lovely country he should be able to help.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE
