    trip to scotland

only a year, back to bikes .ive only last week traded my CBF250 for a 2006 transalp. so far so good im delighted with it. the dealer gave me a 3 month warrenty, and said there was a full service done, gear change is a bit clunky would this be normal? My brother had the same bike a CBF250 he has opted for a brand new CBF600 Which he is picking up next saturday.
we plan to visit my brother s son in july. He lives in edinburg. The 250s were a bit on the febly side so hence the bigger bikes.
im looking forward to the trip and getting to know my transalp.
im not a great machanic. so my fingers are crossed for my ta. but she s a joy to drive.there s 16000 miles on clock. she s a uk import into ireland.
So any comments or advice welcome.

    Welcome to the forum.
The Transalp is a great bike for going on adventures, as long as you do not want to race everywhere.
It all depends on what you mean by clunky, First gear can feel clunky but as long as it is not dragging against the clutch it is O.K.
Pictures of your bike will be needed for the satisfaction of the hordes.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

    Hi & welcome.

Ref 1st gear being clunky - make sure that your chain is correctly tensioned - too tight and it can make gear changes a bit clunky.

But as mentioned above, "they all do that into 1st gear sir" - they do, honest, but check you chain tension anyway.

Enjoy your ride & dont forget to take in some of the other bits of Scotland that are a tad more scenic than Edinburgh
