Hello and welcome to the forum.
There are a few places where you can get racks and panniers, Here is one.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

    Welcome Steve.

Just ride and enjoy. At that mileage the fuel pump may be nearing its lifespan. (do a search on 'facet fuel pump' )

You're not far from me so might see you out and about, or on one of the northwest rideouts.

Will you be taking it off road.?

    Edit;
Just read title properly, . . . d'oh! . . . . fuel pump bit is for XRV not XLV.

    Hi steve..
    just got to your pics

yup XLV 750 Rd.. it should have silver wheels ( god Iam turning into a nurd )

25k is low for one of these.. also its in Km so is real low mileage..

fuel pumps are usually ok on these... they are needed all the time as the fuel tap is on the top of the tank .. mine has 50km and fuel pump is fine..
the pump is up by the battery not down low and exposed like the AT

    faults:---

check gears are ok 2nd gear fork can bend with wear/abuse.. losing 2nd gear.. gear box is tractor like anyway , judt take it firm & slow

change the rear wheel bearings, as if these fail you can stuff the final drive spline.. ( rocking horse sh1te to find a replacement )

hydraulic tappets can stick so ensure you change oil regularly and use semi synth

auto camchain adjuster wedges can hang up giving a slack chain...
easy to check.. remove the spark plug tubes ( the deep second spark plug covered by the square plug cover ).. you can feel the chain from there and if they are slack the tube will show wear..

CDIs are powered from two hi tension coils in the alternator.. these are the main weakness with the model.. they fail and so you lose one or both pots , quite a few guys have now retrofitted the dc powered Ignitech unit to replace both aging CDIs and the need for the dodgy coils.. its a 30min fix and no need to open the motor.... very pleased with mine

ok that seems a long list.. but the only thing I have had to do is the CDI mod.. I replaced the rear wheel bearings as the bike has done 50k.. checked the rest and the cam chains hydraulic tappets are fine..

Mine is the Rf ( 1985/6 ) your is 2 years younger and the first model.. there were changes other than the colour.. better cam chain adjusters.. better rear shock ( rebound adjustment while riding ) ) and the carbs and the fueling were changed.. the Rf has a richer mixture to the rear to aid cooling.. the Rd has the same carb set up front and rear cylinder and 6 bhp more than the Rf

nothing to worry about.. just check all is well.. remember these bikes have had a 25 year shake down !! so its not alot really

change the oil and filter ( so simple on this bike and re-oil the air filter..... then your done

ride it like you stole it.. nice bike and great to see more of them in the UK and being used !!!!!!

    cheers

    Ray
