    Insurance at uni

Ok, so I'm a uni student and updating my policy costs £20. This means I insure my bike at home, go to uni, inform insurers of change of address (£20), go home for winter hols, £20, come back, £20, go home for easter, £20, come back, £20, go home for summer, £20.

That's an extra £100 a year for being a uni student.

Are there any insurers that won't charge me for a change of address policy amendment/can I fight the costs? Most the time I've changed mileage or bike at the same time so it's not too bad, but this time I'm just going to have to give them some money for no good reason; any way to get around this?

Have you tried any of these since they used to have student based policies a few years back:

Motorcycle insurance, Motorbike insurance, Moped Insurance UK- Endsleigh

    Motorcycle | Adrian Flux

Which Uni you going to out of interest?

If you give them a schedule of where the bike will be kept overnight normally and when, and give all that info up front, that should form the basis of the policy. Each address change during that time you've informed them about is not then a change to the original policy. If your current insurer can't quote on this basis then just shop around. There is a guy on the forum from Bikesure/Adrian Flux. Seek him out and send him a PM if you get no luck.

If you are going to need flexibility like that tell the insurer/broker first and they will cover you with no extra costs.

Basically the cheaper the policy the more you pay for ad-ons and extras.

Ahh, Gotcha. I'm not going home for the winter this year so I'll just pay the £20 and then renew with someone who will cater for this. Glad to hear such insurers exist

Uni at Bath BTW. Need to update my location!

    Re: Insurance at uni

Feel free to PM me some details if you would like a quotation from Bikesure. We may be able to insure you on a scheme where we simply rate on the highest area (either home or uni) and allow you to travel between he two fixed places. That way there would be no need to make any amendments during the term of the policy and avoid all those admin fees.

    Cheers,

    Phil
