Thanks for the varying advice chaps, I contacted the insurance company and they put me through to the legal dept and they took some details,I'm going to send back the 172 (2) notification and see what happens. I'm just supplying the information they have asked for and waiting for a call or a letter from the insurance as probably the best route from the varying bits of advice I see from you guys so we'll see what happens,watch this space as they say.

BT bloke, this may be of interest to you. Insurers just got back £300,000 from a gang of crash for cash fraudsters who slammed the brakes on to deliberately make the person behind hit them.
