£100 difference between renewall and new...

I'm just astounded..... I'm doing my insurance (last minute of course and up for renewall tomorrow).
Last year it was £184 with Carol Nash, fully comp, roadside assistance etc, Europe cover...
So I thought that this year it would be cheaper as I've another year's experience a year older and no claims..... but it's gone up to £257!!!

And then I thought I'd just do a quick online quote with them which came to only £150....!
So I had to speak to them to see what on earth was going on and was told that it's cheaper online as I do the work.
Well all I can say is £100 for 10mins work.... WTF is ging on??
They did say they'd honour the online quote but to be honest I just thought I don't want to give them my business when they could have taken me for so much....

Ok got it out of my system, feeling much better now thanks for reading...
    Reunited with my trannie......

    Now that would be telling

OK MCE ,but they gave me a big discount on account that I haggled and would'nt take their first second or third offers.

This is a bit like O2.

I called them to cancel my contract before moving to Estonia.

They obviously hadn't listened passed "I want to cancel my contract" coz I got a call from a 16 year old offering me no end of cheaper deals and incentives to stay with them.

He finally got the message but I asked why this was offered to me now and not before, when I'd been a loyal customer from back when they were Cellnet! Apparently, to get the most you have to threaten them annually with going elsewhere. If you don't you get bog standard packages.

In other words, be a belligerent tosser and get great value and service, be a loyal customer and taken for a ride.

And they wonder why the world is full of cynicism...

I had the same with Carol Nash last year. The renewal came(I can't remember the exact amount) and I thought it was too much.I tried the online quote thingy and it cost loads less so I went with that.
It's insurance time again in about a month so time to do it all again

Same thing with AA breakdown, I said no thanks to a renewal as they wouldn't offer the same (or even similar) deal to a long term and valued customer as to a new bod, I was about to walk and a 5 min chat got me a free home start upgrade

Carole Nash came in way cheaper than most on a dual bike policy, about £109 for 2!, was getting more than that for just one from others

I think someone just pulls the figures out of a small hole

Re: £100 difference between renewall and new...

I had this with Carole Nash last week also.

Questioned why the increase and was told that was the lowest they could get.

Told them the online quote was the same as the previous year got the same answer. I pointed out that I couldn't renew it on line.

They wouldn't budge so ended up downgrading to TP, F & T.

Stayed with them for the european recovery.

Asked me when my house insurance etc. runs out....

I told them that based on this renewal experience they wouldn't have to worry about it.

If they are bad then do not try Bennets.
When I started I got a quote for £130 fully Comp, came renewal and it was £289, that was with one years no claims added.
