Re: This time I think I've got it right

Make sure you get this done...

http://www.klr650.marknet.us/doohickey.html

It's the only real common issue with the motor. A breaker friend of mine has seen several with written off crankcases and seized motors due to this bit failing even at low mileages. Kawasaki upgraded the parts but aftermarket are still better if you can get hold of them.

(I thought I remembered something that I had on the list of things to do if I got one).

Re: This time I think I've got it right

Hello again DigiC,

Glad to hear you've got yourself a decent bike. I must admit, I had a good look at KLR's but couldn't find one for the right money. Looks like you have ! I've only been around a day or so, but I did get the impression that your Dominator might be spread amongst your fellow DS appreciation club ....

Very interested in lots of bits from your Dominator (unless of course you have already found a good home for it. Don't want to step on anyones toes as the new boy ....

Wheels
Mirror
Seat
Exhaust system
Rear Light Lens

Your thoughts ? Your Prices ?

Regards

Wheels - Not a matching pair, rear is a steel rim and looks quite new no corrosion whatsoever, front is traditional gold anodised with light white oxidisision on the surface but no rot
Mirror - only have the N/s mirror
Seat - a nice example in red and black
Exhaust system - only o/s silencer any good
Rear Light Lens - fully functioning in good condition
Rear pegs and hangers look good

I will post photos up 2moro in the for sale section No idea of prices yet (I'm not sure what these things fetch) but probably ask for offers

Few spots of rust on the frame and bits, time to break out the silver hammerite methinks, then get out and rub some of those sharp corners off the tyres, themsis new themsis

Yep, the tyres definitely need scrubbing in!

Very nice bike. Not even minutely jealous. No, not me, no, no........

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

already bought a tin, most of it is very light on on the swing arm and rear subframe, fortunately I was supplied with another swingarm (which the previous owner had purchased to tart up) and the rear subframe is nice and easy to unbolt for painting, maybe next summer I'll look at getting the whole frame stove enamelled
