    Re: KLE 500

My mate has one, identical to that actually, same colour and everything.

He came and did the Stella with us on it in 2007 and had no bother keeping up on the Paéage or anywhere else.

Great little bike really and does the job if you're on a budget...they go for a song second hand too.

In fact...I think my mate might be selling his now as he's "inherited" another bike...

I did quite fancy one for my winter hack but then went for the KLR instead

    Hey Z.
Met up with a couple of mates today, both have KLE 500 for winter/knocking about bikes.

their opinions; great for commuting, top gear is like an overdrive, happily sitting around 70mph on motorways, fuel = 60+ mpg.
Both said it would be lacking as an only bike ( but both have bigger bikes aswell ), but excellent as a winter/commuter bike.
One is on it's second winter and still look's new.
Both said they use them much more often than they originally intended, so can't be bad.

Have a look on Horizons unlimited. They seem to have a good following for the around the world types. Guess they must be bulletproof, the engine got used in the GPZ500 to which is a reliable old beast, I had one when I left the Army and didnt service it just rode it!!!

    Re: KLE 500

I just bought one tonight for the specific purpose of using as a winter hack to save the Mighty Varadero! It's quite clean for a 92 bike!
I'm not a great Kawasaki fan but did run a KLR650 Tengai for a year and enjoyed it for what it was, a big thumping single! I'm looking forward to running mine, when I get it to run! It's been laid up for five yrs so battery's dead, brakes are seized, tyres are flat and I believe the engine might be seized with laying! I'll post up pics if I ever get it going!
