1997 Jag 3.2 Exec (jangly jangly!); two bicycles; 2001 XL 650 V-1 which is ready for anything, cuts through traffic like a hot knife through butter and just gets better and betterand a low mileage Pan European ST1100
Thanks for the info. I will give any assistance I can . Unfortunately I may not be around that weekend as I have provisionally planned a trip to Italy leaving on the 19th june.
However I would make some suggestions on your proposed routes.I have been travelling the length and breath of Ireland for some 30 plus years so Ive learned a thing or two .
I would strongly suggest you stick with your motorway route for the following reasons.
1. Dublin can a be nightmare for traffic and you are hitting it on a saturday worst day!! So head for M50 south west Portlaoise .
2. Our motorways reduce to dual carriage ways outside Dublin and they can be very congested at certain times. The surface is very good so you will make good time once you get beyond Dublin.
3. You will be reduced to main roads from Limerick on which will be slower going as a result of traffic and Tralee to Dunquin could be much slower due to narrow windy roads and traffic.
4. The other route while a good drive would be much slower and a lot more demanding ,twisty main roads with lots of traffic. Also you will be nearing the end of your journey possibly tired and maybe trying to make up time. So I would suggest this might be a good homeward route.
Lastly my own policy to riding in Ireland is ride consistently Good average speed rather then flat out . Be prepared for the unexpected trust me you will meet it on our roads.
So ride safely and enjoy the experience . Cead mile failte (a hundred thousand welcomes) to all. Edcot

Yay, That means the wife will be coming pillion as well.
(I'll pick her up from Manchester on the way to Holyhead)
Lucky she hasn't posted my cheque yet (I knew she'd leave it till monday) so now I can change my registration to include the free pillion on the ferry.
Axe....
Nice one see you there then!
Bob, I can't send you a receipt via a PM as you have not subscribedso without mentioning the figure, we have received your cheque and processed your order (took a little time but we didn't want to order the Tshirt until your number had changed from 14 to 82, as it now has).
No T-shirt for Cherie? First she insists you buy a new bike: then we learn she'll be starring in Baywatch and you can't spare £11 for her?!![]()
