what do I do with a cheque made out to Macmillan?

A very very generous person at work has given me a cheque for £250 for doing TLD. He made it out to Macmillan though. I have had a bit of a look but some of the threads are really long and I can't see if there was any instrctions on what to do with cheques etc and how to get this paid to Macmillan, other than just sending it to them, but also so they recognise that this is a contribution from XRV and TLD.

    Suggestions anyone?

If you know the person real well maybe they'd write the cheque to you, and then you could put the 250 up on the just giving site - that way your collegue would see his/her contribution instantly and also know the money went straight to MacMillan and not into the Austin New Bike Appeal

Would it not be easier for them to donate directly on the justgiving site? This way they know it's not going to the new bike appeal as alp says

The guy who gave me the money was an IT consultant who was working with us. He had already left our employment when we did the ride and I only have his companies email address. I don't really want to hassle him over it, although I am sure he would be fine if I asked him. He has donated £250 and how he chooses to do it is up to him really. Its Ok I will just send to Macmillan with a note saying why they are getting the money.

Yep the main thing is MacMillan get the money and your friend is incredibly generous.

Theres a space for off line donations on the justgiving site - maybe our guru Robster can activate it and have the 250 acknowledged that way??

I can manually add the £250 as an "offline donation" if you can get the cheque paid in and allocated to the right place...there's no facility as far as I can see for others to be able to add their own offline donations.

Austin, drop me a PM if/when you manage to pay it in and I'll add it to the total that way.

Okery dokey, sounds like a plan then. Debs PM me your address and I will get it posted today or tomorrow. Robster - this will be paid in one or another by next week, so lets get it on the just giving off line thing £250

I have also got a really strange cheque for £50 from someone who does a "Donate as you earn" type of thing - his employer takes money straioght off his pay which is kept in a special account against which he can write sheques but only to a Charity. I will check what I need to do with that as well but suspect handing it into Macmillan will do as they should be used to dealing with these things.

Robster that will be another £50 to add to the off line thing.

    Cheers all.
