GPS Route available?

Hi,

First of all Great Job on the Longest day ride.

It's always a great thing when people try to help others. I like the idea of a fundraiser tour. If I knew sooner, I would have participated.

The idea of riding from Land's end to John O'Groats is very appealing.
Thereore, I was wondering, is it possible to obtain a copy of the trip coordinates for my Garmin Zumo 550?
If not, maybe a document so I can plot the course myself?

Hi Mate

take a look at the "Route" page on The Longest Day website, it's a Google Map of the "official route" we took.

I took that info (via the Link Button, top right) copied it an pasted it into this handy converter to create a TomTom file. I know you're on a Zumo, but I'm sure there must be a similar widget to create a Garmin file.

If you do find one...post back and let us know as I'm sure a few of the chaps here would be interested!

Seems to work, but I can't test it right now.
My boss wants me to finish my workingday first.

Re: GPS Route available?

Turk,

Our route was not the "fun" route it was the direct route - mostly dual carrageways and motorways.

If your doing Lands End to John o' Groats for pleasure you should avoid the route we took and find a more enjoyable one.

Our route was fit for purpose, that's about all you can say about it.

Amen to that, although the first couple of hundred miles were quite fun. After that it was motorway nearly all the way.

Re: GPS Route available?

OK, thanks for the info.

Seems I'll have to plot my own route.
Might as well go thru the Highlands, down the west coast, past some Loch's while I'm on it.

It will take me a couple of days, but if anyone's interested in the result, let me know.

Re: GPS Route available?

Turk,

We could plot you a route that would take you WEEKS to get from L.E. to JOG and you would still not see all of the good stuff !!!

Re: GPS Route available?

As I live in the Netherlands, my plan is to come to the UK and ride the LE-2-JOG route around spring 2009.

GOODFOODGUYD offered to sent me a route for my Zumo.

And the idea's keep coming.

As soon as I receive the route, I intend to post a threat on the Dutch @ site. There might be some Dutch @ riders who want to come along.

Maybe an idea to organize a Dutch-UK @ riders meet?
