End to end 2009

I wussed out of 2008 Longest day cos i'd only been riding 3 months, but now im ready! - i done 10,000 miles now since Easter so im already putting the miles in!
Im gonna do it with a few mates probably June 2009, but im likely to do it 2up with the wife.
Thinking of leaving Notts and heading to Lakes for a night, then Scotish highlands for a night then a night at John O'Groats.
Then journey to Lands End
The spend a night somewhere on the way back up to Notts.

Can anyone offer any advice, should we do it sponsored or not ?
Best routes ?
Anything you guys would of done differently?

i dont travel on ferries very well, holyhead to dublin on the fast ferry was my limit, i went green stood waiting to board !
2 ferries in 24 hrs...........no no no no

I think there will be about 6 of us so far that fully intend on doing end to end on all kinds of bikes, i just wanted a rough idea of what times you guys set off and any route you'd go for or avoid if you were to do it all again ?
