Not sure if it would be a problem but just a though
Just stumbled across this thread and thought I could help

I'm a corporate insurance broker and do the insurances for RoSPA/RoADAR so fingers crossed that should be sufficient experience/qualification to assist.

From an insurance stance as long as it is clearly defined as being a suggested route only (this negates any issues if road surfaces are deemed dangerous), that all riders are to have their own insurances in place for a minimum of £250,000 Public Liability in accordance with the Road Traffic Act (i.e. Third Party Only cover more than meets this requirement), and then the usual disclaimer not accepting any liability...etc This SHOULD be sufficient from an insurance perspective, however from a legal stand point I wouldn't like to comment.

Hope this assists and looking forward to meeting some of you guys. My first XRV event so should be good!

    Adam

Also remember that we have insurance now for any events due to our MAG affiliation. I'm sure there would be some paperwork to do and phone calls to make, but this is exactly the sort of stuff that they cover.

I would only request that all members riding are subscribed members, but I would be willing as a gesture of goodwill to donate a years membership to those people that are riding and are subscribed members.

So would someone like to take this up with MAG? If so PM me and I'll give you the details.
    Cheers
    Dave

We've decided to only concentrate / promote / allow one XRV charity event next year, it will not be this one.
More details to follow in other threads.

Re: The Longest Day Marathon Riders Association.

I thought this was to be a new association, similar to Iron Butt, to validate/certificate XRV runs - not a separate event?

Sorry yes getting my wires crossed.
This something that Robster wanted to do I think so you need to contact him directly.

Re: The Longest Day Marathon Riders Association.

The Longest Day Marathon Riders Association was an idea to verify our marathon riders, and future ones, similar to the Iron Butt setup. The fees charged would have been donated to that years Charity. Thus, once we had our sponsorship in, the nominated charity for that year would still have an income stream for a further 12 months, generated by Marathon Riders Association registration fees.

However, as we are now starting afresh, and the idea of the Marathon Riders Association has been taken from the board, I am locking this thread. You will all be informed in the very near future of further, newer developments on an exclusive XRV associated event.

If you have completed any paperwork in the riders handbook for this years ride, this needs to be directed to Robster.

Similarly, if you have any queries regarding The Longest Day Marathon Riders Association, then please direct them to Robster directly.
