    Cool Calling all Scotsmen...

    Thanks for reading.
Snaphappy, maartnboum & me will arrive in Newcastle Docks on the ferry from Amsterdam, at 9ish Friday morning. All things going to plan we will then meet up with thegrumpyoldgit007, fishbone, buggles & anyone else who would like to tag along. Assuming things run smoothly we will arrive in Edinburgh about 1ish on Friday.

I would love to learn and see something of Edinburgh, a place I have never been to. So if any of our Scottish fellows are up for it::: Can someone meet us and take us/lead us on a “Tourist, sight seeing, historical, informative, fun ride” for a couple of hours. It doesn’t need to be all in the saddle I personally am quite happy to also visit the “Edinburgh museum”??? or something similar.

It would be a crime to have an afternoon in Edinburgh and not see something of what on the Internet appears to be a beautiful city. So there we go, any takers ????. There will of course be numerous cuppa’s for our XRV guide.

    TLD = 54 sleeps.
Don’t forget everyone needs a pound coin in their pocket, to play a game on the ferry and raise some more money for MAWF.

    Everyone ride safe.
    Ash

    I'm English!

I'd love to but, I'm on a stag-weekend the weekend after the one in question then I fly out to Florida the one after that so getting a leave pass signed by long-haired-zero-alpha might be a bit tricky!

I'll have a look - it'll be a short notice thing if I manage it, but its definately on my radar!

    3 TLD's done, (2009 + 2010 + 2011) - bring on 2012

When they kick at your front door How you gonna come?
With your hands on your head Or on the trigger of your gun
When the law break in How you gonna go?
Shot down on the pavement Or waiting on death row?.............

Welcome | The Real Mary King’s Close

Try this for a look. I went a couple of years back, really interesting and spooky !!!!

There is a lovely little pub called the " Last Drop " nearby at the grassmarket where they used to give prisoners their last dram on the way to the gallows Part of the old city of Edinburgh.

I might manage to hook up as I have to go and see my intermediate sibling who is at Edinburgh Uni, just not sure of the timing.

Will keep looking at this thread

    Re: Calling all TLD Scotsmen...

Hadn't picked up this thread before... apols for not putting forward the regal scots hospital(ity).
Don't quite get the dates - presume this is on Friday 19th June? I'll see if I can swing an afternoon away from work, Friday shouldn't be too difficult. I've been here for 15 years or so, though mostly working out of town, but know it a bit! If you're coming in from south east, could enter the city by going past the new parliament (to form the mandatory love/hate opinion) and on to Calton Hill (site of old parliament) to park & wander. May be a struggle getting parked for multiple bikes but I'll try & check the restrictions. Not far to the Royal Mile where most of the 'traditional' tourist-attractions are. Brittania is moored at the Ocean Terminal mall near Leith, not sure how to best access.. There's always roadworks somewhere awkward so be prepared for a little start-stopping.
If you can confirm the date I'll see if I could at least guide y'all into the city to a decent central point. Cheers, Rob.
(p.s. not actually doing TLD, work deadlines etc.)

That is correct, it's starting to sound like a plan
