we have received this from Make-a-Wish:
Hello,
I'm the Marketing Officer for Make-A-Wish, and wrote the piece we put on our website about your The Longest Day ride. I've just read the thread named above, and don't know the circumstances of any potential dispute - but I just wanted to say, on behalf of everyone at Make-A-Wish, many thanks for undertaking this challenge in aid of our charity.
Make-A-Wish has never been busier - over 1,000 children will turn to us this year to have their special wish granted and we are granting around 17 wishes a week. EVERY donation is important to us, as part of our aim is to provide the most memorable and enjoyable day we can for both the children we help and their families. We add as many extras as we can - for instance, if a child and their family wish to attend a concert and meet a celebrity popstar, we usually arrange for them to travel by limousine, to have a good meal and probably to visit a local attraction as well as going to the gig and meeting the celebrity. All donations help us to continue to do this.
Our aim is to ensure that every child with a life-threatening illness is able to experience the joy of a Make-A-Wish wish. We can only achieve this with the generous support of people like you, so many many thanks! Good luck with the day and we hope the ride goes really well.
Ride easy,
Nick Edwards, Marketing Officer
Make-A-Wish Foundation : National Home Page
PS rather than 'terminally ill', we tend to prefer to say 'life-threatening illness' in order to respect the sensitive nature of life-threatening illnesses and what they mean to children and young people and their families.

Hi again Chris,
Good message from MAW, but the good news is that through the day I've had PMs and read messages showing that overwhelmingly the view is that XRV is bigger than Robster's surprising side-swipe.
I still want the riders to raise more money, but I can't see any event hi-jack working even if, as I hope there isn't, there is one. It's an xrv event as Italy1 put it rather well.

Jeeezzzz There's been a reason why I've not been as active...and I'm seeing it here again - it's this kind of thing where people dissappear up their own behinds and pontificate about what's right and what's not...
I was part of the first run.
This run was the idea of one person.
It was an idea that grew and the first year was promoted via XRV. It raised a fair amount of cash. However it was always going to be a bigger event - seperate from the forum.
Sorry if this upsets people. I really don't mean to, however you really need to wake up a bit. This event takes a massive amount of effort and that work has been done so it's right that the people who started it should own it.
And when I say 'own' I mean to suggest that they will be the ones to drive this thing forward and grow the event - not to make money for personal gain.
The The Longest Day run is an event owned by The Longest Day team.
They've got my support and everyone should recognise this - get over themselves a bit and back future TLD events because they will still raise money for charity....
Which as everyone keeps saying is the name of the game after all it's just that's it's better to promote this across many websites not just one...
One more thing....
KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON.....
I'm going on a trip!
See more about it here: http://journeytorussia.co.uk
I was hoping we were going to avoid this but OK, here goes.
That statement is the rewriting of history that has upset everyone.
Let's deal with facts:
The first conference call on this year's event was organised by Stormforce1, then an xrv.org.uk moderator. There were several members involved, all of us allocated different jobs. Mine was to contact Make-a-Wish, for example, which I did.
Snaphappy was finding out about accommodation
Goodfoodguy was sorting out a route
Alpslapper sorted out charity collection boxes and a press stop in Drogheda
Jaqueslemac was originally doing press
And so on
As the event involved more people came on board and did various jobs.
Many of us were looking for corporate sponsorship, which I eventually got.
The records for all this activity are still available. In fact there are even examples of where someone mistakenly thought Robster was doing something other than the graphics, decals and shirt designs, he made clear he was not. He even had an apology offered and accepted.
This has always been an xrv event. It remains an XRV event.
Let's stop trying to change that and get on with fundraising.
