I'm on the Safe House List
Sorry but the whole last post relies on that one statement being true..
Where in fact it isn't... All you have to do is to search through the XRV archives to see that it's not and never has been the idea of ONE person..and I'm realy ashamed that all the others who got the first one up and running and besides thier best efforts have been constantly pushed out for this second run..

No. It wasn't.

Now, can everyone please bear in mind that MAWF, and potential sponsors for this years event and future xrv.org events, are being directed to this site.
As pdsquire pointed out - we've raised an average of £56 quid a head.
Stop reading stuff here, stop posting stuff here, stop with the he said, she said, and get the hell out there and quadruple that £56 quid.
£200 per rider, plus the generous support and sponsorship of the insurance companies and others, plus whats on the board already = JOB DONE!!!!
Why are you still here

As the site owner I'd like to see these discussions happen after the event.
I'd like an open and honest conversation about it with the facts laid out if they need to be to put some things to rest.
Everyone has put a lot of effort in to this whether it's Robster, Yvonne, Whealie, or whoever, you've all done a fantastic job. I just so worry how everyone's feeling about this, the stress it creates. Noone needs it. I count you all as good friends and I hate any animosity happening. This site is known for it's friendliness and tollerance.
I feel like we're leading to a point where I'm going to be asked to rule whether this is an official XRV event or not, I'd rather not do that of course.
Personally I believed it to be an XRV event as it started life here, e.g. I thought that actually Lord Vader (Pete) came up with the name, but my memory not be correct there I appreciate. So whilst I'm sad that it may be "taken away" from the forum I'm not going to loose any sleep over it as long as it continues to raise money for good causes.
However I do understand that people belonging to the XRV community are proud of that fact, and may want to organise and run a charity event that falls within that community.
So I will try to remain totally impartial to everything that's going on at the moment and I'm quite happy to chair an audio call after the event where everyone can have their say, or we'll set-up a thread specifically for that.

at the moment my sense of humour has gone home...... lets get the run out of the way and then sort things out.
Caffrey - The greatest dog in the world.
one of the things that really opened my eyes to this site was the way that total strangers could gather together and
become great friends.
they came from all different places and met up in all different places, they had different jobs and held varying
positions within society had different income levels and different educational development and no doubt different
career aspirations but they all had one thing in common.
bikes!
that one element brought them here and this same element allowed them to view each other as equals, as friends and
as allies
it seemed to bring out all the great things about human nature and i was constantly amazed at the capacity people
had to help each other out, often at huge expense to themselves.
its what attracted my interest in this site and it's what's kept me interested. I can honestly say that to date, I
havn't met anybody from this site who I didn't like and I couldn't describe as sound.
I cant think of many places where such a wealth of positivity, benevolence and kinsmanship comes together so well
from such a seemingly small coincidental interest.
All the unpleasant things and pettiness and negatives about people seemed to be missing and everyone seemed to have
a shared purpose.
this was clearly demonstrated in last years TLD, it has to be said and acknowledged that some people played a bigger
part than others, but everbody together made it what it became and gave something of themselves and this may have
been the key to all of it.
this year we're all about to pull it off yet again. another challenge, another test of character, another chance to
band together,and another goddamn adventure.
and in doing all that, we also manage to direct a little bit of good into some very sad situations and can feel a
sense of purpose and dare i say pride in helping people who reallly need it.
if we can just keep that mindset and maybe roll the credits afterwards as to who did what and who owns what because
right now it's just counter-productive to what we are trying to do here.
the last thing I want to do is offend anyone with any of this but i have to ask
why fight?
between whealie, alpslaper and pale rider there's a lot of common sense being written, there's a week and a half to pester for as much cash for the cause as possible, then we can argue between ourselves as much as we like.![]()
