    Another drop out - bo##ocks

Yip, the dreaded bank manager bites another.

Well, actually we decided to buy the wife a new car cuz the old one was given us issues, two more months and idve been fine but we found something we wanted so bit the bullit early while we got a deal.

Now, let's hope the interest rates don't go up too much as well.

Best of luck to all going, I'm gonna miss the trip but may get to the Ace that Saturday if I can't find work instead.

Got a room going in the TLodge for cheap if I can give it out without them realising.

Also got a room booked for four in Paris but may pass it two I had promised beds to first.

Chunnel booked too with no refund either...bugger bugger bugger.

Still, none of themselves enough to cover the fuel costs.

This seems a real shame, you already seem to have paid for most of the trip. Will you lose more by pulling out?

I very much doubt it, i think the tunnel was about 40-45 quid total and other accom wasn't that bad, hostel etc... Your looking at triple that just in fuel costs and then there is food to buy, drinks and so on...
874 Miles in one day...need a bit of a rest first!

Yea, the biggest cost is the fuel around £200 for the trip. Then drink, then food, then other unknowns etc.

And when I get back there'd be a new c&s needing replacing earlier due to the mileage which otherwise might get me to August when I can afford it or earn it's value.

Won't be off the bike totally, or at all. I've got Triathlons, cycle races and charity events galore which are usually 100 miles away average, this weekend I'm at Grantham on Sat and Sun which will add 600 miles to the bike. Direct route there and fun rides home, and it pays it's way so I get a day out for free...just missing the socialising.

Maybe the national will happen this year instead.

Sorry to hear you are pulling out... Its all money and it hard going for most of us, hope things get better.

Work is drying up here too, freelancing is coming to an end, i now have to find a really mon-fri job. Have had a couple of interviews on Friday. One in Maidstone and the other in Folkstone!!!! The Folkstone one would be good. The down side its a move to the other end of the country of me, if timings are all out i might have to pull out myself . Should find out a week Monday if have the Folkstone one. As i have no notice period i would be starting the Monday after the TLD weekend, so i have to moved down that weekend.

Afraid I'm in the same boat. Contract ended prematurely 6 weeks ago and I've done little work since. I was hoping that things would get back on track for this but it isn't the case.

Apologies and Good Luck to all.

    Result from Eurostar!

I can postpone my journey to anytime within 12 months of booking and only have to pay additional costs of the difference in the new trains price if any at all, not even an admin fee!

Now that something you don't get with airlines never mind the ferry!

Can no longer find a good reason to ever use a ferry again to France!

    Brilliant service and value.

Also passed my Travelodge prepaid cheap room to another rider for a donation to the charity funds so I'm quids in on cancellation.

Still...would rather be going even in the forecasted weather and demonstrations!

Me too, can't make it, need to be back on my ship Sunday lunchtime to navigate it around the coast to Falmouth. Will be passing through London on Saturday however on my bike, could possibly make the Ace. You going Farky? I will be riding from Norwich that morning (heading to Weymouth).
