    Facet pump fittings

When I fitted my new Facet fuel pump this week, it was all fine except that the unions that came with it were too small. They were 8mm where the OEM pump has 10mm -- see the bad picture below for a comparison:

I've fixed it for now by clamping the hose up tight with jubilee clips, but I'd rather have it fitting properly using the normal spring clips.

Dave tells me that all the pumps have gone out with 8mm fittings, so how have the rest of you got on with them? Has anyone actually fitted one yet?

    Ta!

Did you not have to cut the ends of the fuel lines in order to make them reach and fit? After cutting the original end off you should have a much tighter fit. The end was cut off in the following pic where it goes to the pump. Worked for me.

Yes, I did cut off the old ends!

The union is still a very easy fit, and the old spring clips don't come anywhere close (won't even grip). New clips might work better, but I would expect to need at least a little effort to get the pipe onto the union if it's the right size -- it just slides straight on with no swearing or anything.

I've put some good quality stainless screw clips on which will do the job.

I'd be interested in a couple.

ive just checked what ive got:
    3 @ 12mm (internal hose dia)
    5 @ 8mm ( internal hose dia)
i used the 12mm ones, however i did not cut off the inlet pipe & 12 mm went on fine but as you know you have to cut the outlet pipe & that one was aright sqeeze on a 12mm. So i think its best for 12mm inlet uncut & 8mm outlet cut. Now thats clear as mud.
    So in that case i have 3 sets of 1#12mm & 1#8mm
