    Common Honda parts

Living outside of Europe and being the owner of an AT, I find it quite difficult to source parts locally. I have heard the US guys have similar hiccups, though postage from UK to US is not as dear as UK to Australia.

I wonder if anyone has a list of parts available on various Honda's that are the same.

For example, I heard that the Nissin front brake calipers on the AT might be the same as the XR400? Is this true?

I wonder if there might be common fuel pumps, rectifier/regulator, clutch, etc.

I was looking at the Microfiches for the Transalp, but there are no part numbers there, so it's difficult to compare to the AT. Perhaps someone has a list as on the AT microfiche version.

Hoping I can go down to my local Honda dealer and order a part number rather than, at the mention of "Africa Twin" or "import" and get the standard response of "go away it's an import and we don't stock parts for it" from their spares dept.

Or perhaps someone can recommend an Asian agent. I did have Chan from Technik in Singapore, but have been unable to get in contact with him. Perhaps someone has his more up to date contact details.

Partsfish has all the microfiches, and the "add to cart" link contains the part ID, which is the original honda part nr.

They don't show this, but if you hover over the "add to cart" link you can usually see the url in the status bar or something. (Varies per browser.)

    The link looks like this:
    http://www.powersportspro.com/cart/F...93-1550&S=4144

The part nr is in there twice, after ISBN and UC_AddId, in this case 99101-393-1550 which is the main jet for a dominator.

That's how I dig up my part nrs, and indeed once you've got a part nr ordering stuff becomes a lot easier!
