    Stebel Horn

I've just fitted a Stebel Horn. Goddamn it the thing nearly shook my fillings out when I tested it. LOUD is not the word! Quick and easy replacement of the OEM one...just plug it in and bolt it on.

    Gotta be worth a tenner!

What does OEM stand for by the way?! Lol, I've never figured that out!

When Honda or any motor manufacturer make a bike or car they won't make all the items themselves (actually very few and often none), they buy in bits or most often get them made to a specification. The bits may range from individual components to built up sub-assemblies This will typically go out to tender and business is cut-throat. Honda et al will be sh!t hot on quality and will often work with a company to bring them up to a standard if they think they are good.

As well as making the bits for Honda the "OEM" will make the parts for the spares trade - this is where the money is for them with most OEM selling to Honda or whoever at a loss or at best btreak-even. The contracts are usually dead tight with productivity gains by the OEM anticipated and the benefits shared.

That's why some parts can be branded "Honda", some OEM and others just pattern parts - made by copying an example.

I visited a factory that made the fabric for car seats for a seat maker for a certain well known Jap car maked in this country. The spec for the fabric and patterns was buttoned down so tightly errors just couldn't be tolerated as was delivery with the fabric maker facing damages if you-know-who's assembly line coz there were no seats coz the favric wasn't available - tens of thousands of ££ per hour losses. So much so they had a helicopter on standby for bad weather and traffic jams!!

Well, I bought mine from nippynormans.com whilst buying other bits and bobs...but I was in Halfrauds t'other day for some wire and I saw them in there for about the same money - £9.99. Gotta be done dude. Proper foghorn for The Black Pearl!

I bought the "Magnum 80" - 136Db! Seems identical to the other magnum on there...only cheaper!

Where does one get one? The standard hooter is from a pansified moped. It's better to swear loudly than use it to warn pedestrians in London.
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

BUM...already answered I see. I'm off to Halfords tomorrow. Is it in the car section or the motorbike section?

Urrrm it was in the Car section of my one...next to boy racer spotlights and strobes and the like!

I would say just ask for a Stebel Magnum, but due to Halfrauds policy of employing Halfwits and degenerates you might as well go up to the cashdesk and ask for a Long Stand or a Blank Stare.

Apologies to anyone who works in Halfrauds for my terrible sweeping generalisation there!

the only time you seem to get any sence out of them is when you ask for the latest trillion zillion what mega 5 gazzillion channel sooper dooper light flashing boomtastic KENPIONEERJVCMINISTRYOFWOODSOUND with retiner searing L.E.Ds then and only then you might get a glimmer of life behind the blank stare
