Bush guards - hand guards for ttr250

Can anyone recommend a set that would fit a ttr250? I dont know anything about handguards - are they a simple fit, as in they just bolt on or do you have to get a specific model and fit?
Also what would be a good pair to get - again dont know anything about what durability or protection they offer but I'm basically after a reasonably rugged pair that would offer the cables and levers a decent level of protection on its doubtless numerous drops!
    thanks in advance as always.

If you go for plastic then the acerbis wraparound ones are pretty hard to beat. Made of a kind of nylon they're almost unbreakable.

Don't get the polisport ones, yes they're cheaper but they're bound to be because they're rubbish

Mounting's pretty easy, as long as there's nothing in the way, the brake line can be a bit iffy but I don't think it'll be a problem on a TTR...

I had to modify the right hand guard a bit because the brake line was juuust where the guard mounts to the bar. So now it goes through the guard:

Any will do, should be an easy fit. I quite like Polisport guards, but eBay cheapies really are poo! (Broke lots of them!) The posh acerbis ones have an alloy bar in them, stronger than the bike really!! The only hard bit of fitting is cutting the end off the throttle hand grip, so when the guard is nipped up to the bar it don't seize the throttle. This also needs to be lubed now and again, as its no longer a sealed system.

Other options are carry spare levers (£10), and loosen the clamp bolts on the bars a bit so they spin rather than break when you hit the floor.

There is currently so discussion as to injuries caused by the brushguards, wrists etc as you can't fall off "cleanly" which may be something to consider. Personally, after years of riding with them, I now ride without, with no real increase in problems, and a feeling of greater control.

By the way - love the photos, mud is where its at!!
