    Fog Lights

    Hullawrerr,
I've seen a few photies of TAs with front fog lights attached - can anyone tell me where I might pick up a pair? Also, how easy are they to fit? I'm wanting them in the hope they can provide better illuminaton at night, will they do this job?

    Cheers in advance y'all

    Re: Fog Lights

Touratech do a reassuringly expensive set but I think you can get a set of virtually identical one's from Halfords.
McVicar I think bought a set from Halfords and had them on his Varadero. Do some searching on Spotlights and home in on what McVicar has to say.

I've just found a thread on what Tikka did that might be useful.

    Re: Fog Lights

I have a set of cheap "Ring" fog lights fitted to my TA's crash bars. Bought from Halfords but most Motor Factor do 'em. I got a set that included a relay, switch and wiring instructions that I followed slavishly. Fitting the lights and wires is pretty straigtforward onec you have worked out where to mount, run wires, install the relay and switch.

The first set were £24.99 and were an LED/55w fog light combo (LED Cruise I think they were called). The LED was rubbish and the lens on one got cracked during a minor off road excursion. I replaced the lamps with another set that are 55w bulbs only (£19.99) and left the wiring and switch in place.

Feedback is that the lights makes the bike very visible and certainly when I have seen other people riding my bike there appears to be a wall of white light approaching. They don't make much difference at night though.

    Exclamation Re: Fog Lights

I tour with 2 lads on 1150 GS' who have the Halfords spots. They are useful when off roading at night, especially in Eastern Europe where the AA/RAC etc don't work, but standard AT headlights are excellent at night as are the ones on my KTM Adventure. Don't forget proper fog lights will not shine a light much above 3ft above the ground and are designed for short range penetration. Look insted for 'driving lights', these give a full width beam and do make a difference. Also make sure you can turn them off very quickly as I have seen the result of a blinded car driver hitting a bike head-on. good luck.
