help
hi everyone
I am very new to this so please be patient
I live in the south west of france,it is very rural here and we have the pleasure of things called "chemines,"which are like green lanes in England.
They are everywhere and dirt bikes seem to have the right to use them all Its very bike friendly here.
Now to the nitty gritty,I have plenty of expierence in sportsbikes but bugger all in trail bikes.I want to try it out but what should I buy?
The chemines are the sort of thing that is dry ,usually dusty, not quite car but definately landrover and as I say there are miles of them ,so a healthy fuel capacity could be an advantage.
Being semi retired I dont really want some creature that needs to be kicked so leccy would be good.
I suppose I am looking for something in between trail and motocross ie enduro.
Thanks for reading

Re: help
Welcome to the site Frank,
I'm not really the expert on this, I'm sure someone else will be along to give advice.
There's loads of choice for you. I expect a lot will depend on how much money you have and what's available where you live. Have you talked to the bikers already using the chemines?

Re: help
I'm told the XR 400 is excellent. Very light (116kg dry). Poky engine, but not arm wrenching. Reliable and easy enough to come by. Fuel range? weel all enduros seem to have a small tank for the weight factor and because most people won't tour on them, but Acerbis do a oversize tank for those (about 22l!) and that would probably see you to Paris and back!!!!
PS: don't know how road legal they as standard, but a dealer told me that getting all the indicators etc sorted is not desperately hard...
